Mrs. BeckyMy name is Becky Keown. I am known as Mrs. Becky to the students and staff. I have my master’s degree in Teaching Moderate and Severe Disabilities from the University of Louisville. I taught for 3 years at Bullitt Central High School but decided to take some time off to stay home with my 3 children. For 5 years I chose to stay at home with my children. During those five years my husband and I adopted 3 more children! I went back to work in October of 2010 here at Crossroads Elementary. Since then we have adopted two more children! That makes the total (and final) number of children in our family 8! Although I love to tell the story of how God put my family together, this may not be the place. Please feel free to ask anytime!
I love teaching young people with disabilities. I love watching them learn and feel their excitement. My class is amazing! I try to find a balance between academics, affection, structure, and discipline. I expect great things from my students! I am a strong advocate for inclusion. I feel that all students benefit from as much access to the general education classroom as they can handle. Each student is unique and I do my best to create a learning plan that directly reflects their potential. Teaching students with special needs is my passion. It is my calling and I love every moment. |
